Abandon Hope (Demo)

Sleeping Villager Despite the demo rawness, there is so damn much here to love, from the head-bopping fuzzy riffage, to the harsh shrieks, to the psych tinges, to the seemingly omnipresent sense of melody. So much potential in one little package--I'm super excited to hear what this crew cooks up next. Favorite track: Monument to Nothing (Rehearsal Tape).

josedenoche Abrasive, sludgy to the core, overwhelming drone in which you feel the lick of a demon behind the spine Favorite track: Cestoda (Rehearsal Tape).
Fuzzy Cracklins (The Swamp Records)

Fuzzy Cracklins (The Swamp Records) Really good music for a really good cause. Favorite track: Scryers of the Smoke (Live at Art Bar, Columbia, SC).

In cryptic visions I see through the haze The future’s written by this pungent blaze Now from the smoke emerge, My eyes are burning, red A deadly warning now burns inside my head Abandon hope Abandon hope Speak the scryers of the smoke Abandon hope Abandon hope I see beyond the clouds the Reaper’s grinning face His laughter echoes throughout endless space Earth within Death’s grip Our planet turned to graves Civilization: Gone without a trace Abandon hope Abandon hope Speak the scryers of the smoke Abandon hope Abandon hope

Hunger grows Infinitely I eat and eat Insatiably Hunger blinds Consumption kills And yet I’ll never Eat my fill Now I know It's time to die Gluttony The host sucked dry And no one mourns Dead parasites

A wretched ziggurat Now stands on hallowed grounds To worship hollow gods They dug up our burial mounds Emptiness expands Its faithful worship blind A monument to Nothing And Nothing left behind The few survivors Left to starve and die They fortified city walls Left the dying as they lie Emptiness expands Its faithful worship blind A monument to Nothing And Nothing left behind The cult of Emptiness ignores The damage done Their pallid temple Stands blacking out the sun Emptiness expands Its faithful worship blind A monument to Nothing And Nothing left behind

--Reviews--

"A great first glimpse of what makes Doomsday Profit special...'Scryers of the Smoke' should fire up the psych-doom crowd and holy damn, 'Monument to Nothing' is a fuckin' jam." - Grizzly Butts grizzlybutts.com/2020/04/26/requests-part-ii-march-april-2020/

"This little slice of doom is served up thick, fuzzy and just straight up nasty. Yum! Southern fried riffs with banshee shrieks a la mode. I can dig it. For as dirty and raw as this is, it actually has quite a bit of melody to it." - Riff Finder Reviews www.instagram.com/p/CAI-s3_pCP6/

UPDATE: March 10, 2021

Slowly, but surely, conditions are improving. Bars in North Carolina are open, with restrictions. Some venues are even starting to legally host live music with strict safety protocols in place. And people in NC have started getting vaccinated. More than a year since we played our last show, we're getting back to work.

In the almost 10 months since we released Abandon Hope, we've sent over $85 dollars of your support to the employee relief fund. Every little bit helps, and we appreciate your support.

As things are starting to regain a slight sense of normalcy, we will be funneling any future sales of the demo to finally making that proper recording. Thanks for listening, and we can't wait for you to hear what we have in store!

- -

From the day of release until our local venues are back in business, all proceeds from the sale of this recording will be donated to the Raleigh Music Venue Employee Fund.

Cobbled together from basement experiments and cell-phone recordings of live performances, Abandon Hope (Demo) offers a hazy vision — or perhaps a warning — of what we have been conjuring, and what will eventually find its way into a proper studio recording.
